Medical (Non-surgical) Weight Loss ProgramsOur weight management programs provide multidisciplinary treatment to help you identify and address the many factors that contribute to weight gain. Full-Formula DietAn initial evaluation will determine if this option is right for you. This option includes 12 weeks of active weight loss using a full-formula diet (like OPTIFAST®), followed by 6 weeks of transition to self-prepared foods described in a personalized meal plan. Patients come to the IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management each week during the comprehensive program to receive medical monitoring. This ensures they are losing weight as quickly and safely as possible and enables patients to participate in lifestyle education classes designed to help them learn a new way of eating and being active. Research has shown that weekly contact maximizes your chances of long-term success. If the amount of weight you need to lose does not justify being on a full-formula diet for 12 weeks, the IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management staff can develop a shorter duration program to meet your needs. Similarly, if you have a great deal of weight to lose, a longer-term program can be designed for you. Partial-Formula DietA full-formula diet is not right for all patients trying to lose weight. The IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management also offers personalized partial-formula diet options. This program combines two to three daily meal replacement products with self-prepared, low-calorie meals or frozen diet meals. Because lifestyle change is crucial to your success, this program also includes weekly lifestyle education classes and periodic medical monitoring to ensure you remain in peak health while losing weight. Once you reach your weight loss goal, our staff will help you transition back to self-prepared meals. For convenience and improved weight control, some patients elect to use one or two meal replacement products each day for weight maintenance. If this is your preference, the IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management's dietitian will help you plan a partial meal replacement plan that fits your lifestyle and calorie needs. Holiday and Vacation ProgramsYears of experience in the field of weight management have taught the healthcare providers at the IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management that many people want to boost their weight loss success to get into shape for a special occasion or to keep themselves from reverting to old eating patterns. To meet these needs, the IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management offers holiday and vacation programs that allow for a variety of treatment options. Some include short-term use of a full formula diet and others use a partial-formula meal replacement plan. Custom ProgramsThe IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management's healthcare staff can develop a personalized weight management program to meet your specific weight loss, health, nutritional, and lifestyle goals and needs. Such programs may include use of full or partial-formula meal replacement plans, or they may include a low-calorie diet made up of self-prepared and/or frozen and packaged diet foods. The degree of counseling and medical monitoring associated with these programs is determined by each patient's needs. Ongoing SuccessOngoing Success is the name of our long-term weight maintenance program. This program is offered to all patients who complete the Comprehensive Weight Management program. It includes ongoing support in a group setting, as well as the option to use meal replacement formulas like OPTIFAST in combination with self-prepared foods as part of your maintenance diet. For patients who have difficulty maintaining their weight loss, the center offers weight loss medication (diet drug) therapy under the direction of the Medical Director. Weight Loss Medication TherapyWeight loss medications, sometime referred to as diet drugs, are not in and of themselves the best way to treat overweight and obesity. At the IMC Center for Nutrition & Weight Management, our healthcare practitioners make every effort to help patients develop the skills to manage their weight on their own. However, we recognize that some people struggle with underlying metabolic and/or emotional issues and can benefit from weight loss medication therapy. The Center's Medical Director, Dr. Miller, prescribes weight loss medication therapy on a case-by-case basis, usually during the weight maintenance treatment phase. Patients utilizing weight loss medications are required to participate in ongoing medical monitoring. Click here to learn more about the use of weight loss drugs in obesity treatment. |
